Well, I can speak as an OCD sufferer for most of my youth alone. The OCD caused my anxiety and depression. I would pray for 5 hours/day sometimes because it was never good enough. I had to touch doorknobs 3 times. I obsessed over everything and had unrealistic attachments to it... this happened for about 8 yrs, when I would be stressed especially, but there was residual ALL the time.

If you are constantly paranoid and afraid about something unrelated happening if an action isn't done just so, it can induce great anxiety...and having no time for anything but your obsessions/compulsions that you don't like but can't stop anyhow induces great depression. It is a vicious cycle, but one I am proud to say has improved a bit over time... at least for me when some of the trigger stressors were removed from my life.
References :
OCD sufferer

What you must know about panic attacks is that YOU CANNOT DIE!! This is very important because for a long time I too thought that I was going to die/lose consciousness. but if there is no physiological explanation for your symptoms then you have nothing to worry about.. You need to realize that you are in control and that you cannot physically pass out during a panic attack. When you have a panic attack in most/all cases your heart rate and blood pressure are elevated and the only way you can faint is if your brain isn't getting enough blood/oxygen so when your heart pumps faster your brain is getting more blood circulation. This does not mean that you need to be on meds... It is scary yes but harmless and if it happens again you will now know that it is all in your head... there are many different triggers for panic attacks but at the main root of these attacks is stress... in order to combat this try to do things that relieve stress such as rigorous exercise or for me playing video games... good luck and just remember you have control of your body and your mind
References :
i am a psychology student have had personal experience with panic attacks

As answered by another person, OCD is an anxiety disorder. Perhaps it is not so strange that depression goes along with this. It must be very depressing to have to follow the strict rituals of OCD every day and have the rest of life put on hold so to speak.
References :
OCD is an anxiety disorder, and POSSIBLY involves similar brain locations (amygdala, cingulate and forntal sites) and neurotransmitters (serotonin and norepinephrine) to depression. But there is much still to be learned about anxiety and depression.
References :
Many people at some point in their lives have these, I did. They can be brought on by stress. If you have been under more stress over the last month or so then that could have triggered it. It could have been something stressful at or around the time of the attack. I would not worry to much about it unless it happens again soon. If it does then you need to see your doctor. There are medications that can help for people who have anxiety disorders, but you don't want to start taking those medications unless you really need them. Many of them can make you feel sleepy or tiered a lot. So watch yourself and if it happens again within say 1 or 2 months then I would go see your doctor.
References :
I think the answer to this question to sum it all up into one would be a chemical imbalance, or just flat out depression. I am someone who suffers from all three of those, but I maintain thanks to medication. My advice to you if you suffer from any of these would be to seek out a doctor and try to get prescribed some kind of medication that can help you. It is a hard life to lead without some form of medication and (or) help.
References :
personal experience

I guess it could, but from the MANY severe panic attacks I've had, sex was the last thing on my mind. I would see a dr.
References :
I think every "trigger" is going to be different for everyone. I definitely know what you're going through. I've had panic attacks before and they are so incredibly scary. If you have panic attacks often, I would definitely talk to your doctor. It will be your choice whether you want to have medicine to control it or you could go to a psychologist and they could hlep you find out what is causing your problems.

Good luck.
References :
I just love it when people say "medication is not the answer". Those people have no idea what it's like to be DEPRESSED. I have been so depressed that I could not get out of bed in the morning. I didn't eat for days. I didn't care if I lived or died. I don't know what causes serious depression but I can tell you that it is more disabling than any physical illness or injury I have every had - BAR NONE.
Now with that said here are some things that will help:
1. Medication (the RIGHT medication - it might take a couple of tries to get one that makes you feel half way human again)
2. Mega doses of Fish Oil - like 4 of those huge capsules each day. Take with a fully tummy preferrably at bedtime.
3. Excercise. I know it's hard to drag yourself off the couch to do ANYTHING much less the task of excercising but it WILL help.
4. No self-medicating; no pot, no alcohol, no pills, no nothing that hasn't been prescribed to you.
5 Eat right - stay off the sugars and fats as much as possible.

This sounds like something that needs to be taken up with HR. But if you work in a small company like me then you don't have an HR department and you just have to suck it up and show up at work. BUT there is a little thing called FMLA - The Family Medical Leave Act. You may fall under this. Google it and see what comes up.

Good Luck. I am so sorry for you. I know exactly how you feel!
I've been there, done that, bought the T-Shirt.

P.S. WHY don't you have a doctors note?? Get one. And then stick your tongue out at your co-workers when they aren't looking. It will make you feel better, I promise.
